A globally recognized expert in photoalignment and waste-to-wealth technologies, Dr. Gurumurthy Hegde is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC), Professor at CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Bengaluru, and Former Director of the Centre for Advanced Research and Development (CARD). Recognized among the World’s Top 2% Scientists, he brings over 20 years of R&D experience spanning liquid crystals, LCDs, nanoparticles, energy storage, water, and health applications. He has invented numerous concepts in photoalignment and biowaste-derived nanomaterials, and is the founder of Adindistech (est. 2018), a venture translating his research into real-world solutions.Dr. Hegde has authored over 330 scientific publications with an h-index of 51 and over 7,600 citations, along with ~20 patents and research grants exceeding USD 2.3 million. He has guided several PhD and MTech students and received more than 60 international awards from the USA, Japan, UK, Germany, South Korea, Malaysia, and India. He has worked in Hong Kong, Sweden, Malaysia, and Japan in various research capacities.

Invented several novel LCD concepts and devices with fast switching as well as novel liquid crystals and alignment materials for LCDs. Has published over 300 scientific publications and more than 60 patents. He guided many stuidents for their PhD degree, MSc and MTech degree programme at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden.
